Herzlia Arts and Culture Centre
Faced with the exciting prospect of designing a new arts and culture centre for the United Herzlia Schools, the decision was taken to retain two 50 year old houses on the site and to incorporate these into the vision for this iconic building fronting the Herzlia campus.
The decision was taken to acknowledge the mostly residential nature of the area, by retaining these houses, and a new 350 seater auditorium nestles itself gently between the two existing footprints, in a sensitive and elegant response to the neighbours and the city.
‘This facility will become a beacon of cultural learning for its community.’
The corner house holds the music department, while the second is home to dance, drama, film and art. Studios and music rooms along both ends of the complex look out over the landscaped gardens up to Table Mountain, and an outdoor amphitheatre connects to the school grounds.
This facility will offer a range of functions, which will allow its students to express themselves as artists, performers and musicians, and will become a beacon of cultural learning for its community.
