Studio
Leon Saven Design was established in 1995 when Leon returned to South Africa having gained extensive architectural experience in the USA. Our studio, located in a restored warehouse building, is situated in the heart of Cape Town’s de Waterkant design precinct.
With over 30 years in the industry, Leon’s passion for design, combined with his holistic and integrative approach to each specific project, has resulted in a diverse range of built work, which has significantly added to the urban renewal and rejuvenation of the city.
This range of projects includes: a new-build 10 storey mixed-use development; numerous projects that combine heritage and restoration work with new additions; prestigious office and showroom spaces; and the interiors of some of the city’s favourite restaurants. The practice is also known for its design of detailed furniture pieces and customised lighting.
Our team consists of architects and interior designers who collaborate with engineers and specialist consultants throughout the design process. We also encourage and facilitate the participation and involvement of our clients in developing and expanding a vision for their projects, which we ultimately translate into built form.
A mindful approach and careful attention to the detail of how things are put together, combined with a strong understanding of space and materials, brings soul and integrity to our work, giving each project its own distinctive character.
Leon Saven Design continues to push the limits of the available resources, innovating, refining and experimenting to achieve the best solution for each unique situation.
