The Stockyard
In a side street off Woodstock’s main road, this complex of previously run-down industrial buildings has been transformed into a desirable cluster of creative studio spaces and offices.
Taking its spirit from the historic buildings on the site, this project brings together a restoration component together with carefully designed new buildings, combining around an open courtyard which unifies the complex.
‘In keeping with our philosophy of re-purposing existing materials, recycled flooring and beams were used to craft an over-sized entrance door.’
In order to create an appealing commercial precinct, reflecting the vibrancy of the area, we carefully restored and refurbished the existing buildings, and added a new building and parking structure, enclosing a central courtyard.
In keeping with our philosophy of re-purposing existing materials salvaged from the site wherever possible, recycled flooring and beams were used to craft an over-sized entrance door, and an old steel truss salvaged from the building, now frames the courtyard.
Limiting our use of materials to retrain the industrial spirit of the area, we combined frameless glass, steel, and epoxy flooring in sharp contrast with the rough exposed original surfaces.
